Excel can only take you so far. The free, open source cleaning tool OpenRefine can do even more to tidy up data quickly, and easily. It's well worth going to this session to help you get started, and to see the amazing things OpenRefine can do.
IMPORTANT: Please install and RUN OpenRefine (from openrefine.org) before this session. You may find it requires you to update your browser, or dependent programs like Java, and we won't have time to do this in the session itself.
